The Nature Conservancy Supports CBU Media Awards

CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA 9 August 2023. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Caribbean Division has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) to support the annual Caribbean Media Awards.

As part of the agreement, TNC Caribbean will sponsor two Caribbean Media Awards for excellence in environmental reporting.

“We are very, pleased to be a supporter in the 2024 round of CBU Caribbean Media Awards, and we value greatly the opportunity to collaborate with CBU to highlight excellence in environmental reporting in the Caribbean,” stated Dr Rob Brumbaugh, Executive Director of TNC Caribbean Division.

“TNC is cognizant of the tremendous work journalists put into researching and writing great stories for their listeners, readers and viewers, and we want to reinforce the importance of that work,” Dr Brumbaugh expressed. “These awards are TNC’s way of expressing appreciation for journalists and media houses who write stories about critical environmental issues and to encourage others to do likewise.”

CBU President, Dr. Claire Grant warmly welcomed the new partnership with The Nature Conservancy Caribbean Division.  She said, “This is a natural extension of the CBU’s commitment to building capacity for, and recognizing excellence in coverage of issues that are vital to the people of the Caribbean.”

TNC will announce details of the two awards during the Caribbean Media Awards Gala in Antigua on Tuesday August 15, 2023.

The CBU has been presenting Caribbean Media Awards annually for over 30 years to recognize the best stories in print, digital, television and radio media houses in the Dutch, English, French and Spanish Caribbean.
