Call for Training Consultant – UNICEF ECA–CBU Child Rights Media Project

The Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), in partnership with the UNICEF Office for the Eastern Caribbean Area (UNICEF ECA), is inviting applications for a Barbados-based Media Trainer to serve as a consultant under the project “Enhancing the Media Response to Child Rights in the ECA and Belize.”

This consultancy will focus on developing and delivering a training module for Barbadian media professionals, as part of a capacity-building initiative connected to the UNICEF-sponsored categories in the CBU Media Awards.

Training Focus

The workshop will explore best practices in child-focused reporting, including:

  • Ethical reporting on children (anonymity, dignity, and sensitive interviewing)

  • Giving children space to become subjects of media content, not just objects

  • Addressing child-centric issues such as education, climate change, and mental health

  • Exploring the wider social and economic factors that shape children’s lives

Consultant Role

The selected consultant will:

  • Develop training materials and a workshop module

  • Deliver the module at an in-person session for Barbadian media professionals

  • Support the CBU–UNICEF partnership’s goal of strengthening regional media engagement with child rights issues
