Eleven (11) members of staff from six (6) CBU member organisations in Anguilla, Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago are among the September 2022 cohort attending online courses in the University of the West Indies’ Master’s degree in Media Management.
The Caribbean media professionals are accessing the graduate level courses at no personal cost under a new CBU partnership with the University of the West Indies, Mona campus, the home of the Caribbean School of Media and Communications (CARIMAC) The specially admitted students will receive a transcript after completing the course which can then be used towards the completion of the MSc.
Under a just signed MOU, a new path for graduate training was opened for staff from CBU entities looking to enhance their management skills. In return, participating CBU members are advertising UWI Mona’s academic programmes on their media platforms.
With a wide range of offerings directly relevant to Caribbean media, the new graduate students are kicking off their studies with the courses, ‘Structure and Operations of Media’ and ‘Media Business Strategy’
CBU President Dr. Claire Grant, who is also a part-time tutor at UWI, in announcing the partnership last month said, “We see this collaboration as further proof that our own media institutions, partnering creatively can offer this region the best media expertise and content, that contributes to the advancement of Caribbean society.”
