The United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH), in collaboration with HEC Montréal and Radio Republik Indonesia, will host an international workshop titled “Media: A Driving Force for Water Security.”

The virtual session takes place on Thursday, 12 February 2026, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. (Montreal Time) and is designed for media professionals interested in strengthening their role in public communication on water-related issues.

The workshop will examine how media influences public understanding of water security, shapes behaviour, and supports policy action. Discussions will focus on digital and grassroots engagement, the role of broadcasters, and the challenges media practitioners face, including misinformation and sensationalism.

Participants will also explore practical strategies for developing effective behaviour-change campaigns across radio, television, and digital platforms; strengthening digital media to support community-led water stories; and promoting ethical, accurate, and responsible reporting. The session will highlight the complementary strengths of radio’s trusted local voice, television’s visual reach, and digital media’s fast-paced, youth-focused engagement, while underscoring the shared responsibility across all platforms.

Please Note :

Participation in the workshop is limited. CBU members who are interested in participating or nominating representatives are encouraged to contact the CBU Secretariat for further information by Wednesday, 14 January 2026.
