Bridgetown, Barbados: Sagicor was pleased to continue its sponsorship of the Health Education and Financial Literacy journalism awards in the recently concluded CBU 35th Caribbean Media Awards. Sagicor’s sponsorship, now in its fourth year, helps celebrate the work of Caribbean journalists who promote an understanding of the national or regional health sectors while also recognising news or current affairs content that focuses on and promotes an understanding of the financial components and skills pertaining to the effective management of money and debt.
The financial literacy journalism award in the television category was won by the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation in Barbados for episode four of their “Newspulse,” piece entitled “Financial Health with Exchange Museum,” by Stacey Russell. The print category of this award was won by the RJRGLEANER Communications Group (RJR) in Jamaica for “Breaking the Cycle of Old Age Poverty,” by Sashana Small.
