Join Us For “The Future Of Broadcasting” Webinar

If you want to learn about emerging trends in media operations and content production then register to attend the CBU webinar on The Future of Broadcasting live via Zoom at 10.30 AM AST on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Along with a presentation by CBU President Dr Claire Grant, the event will feature the Co-chairs of the International Telecommunications Union’s Study Group on the Vision for the Future of Broadcasting Andy Quested and Luiz Fausto.

They are the main authors of a recent report on developing trends in all aspects of broadcasting from content origination to international content exchange and on to delivery through terrestrial broadcasting networks.  The report outlines the expectations of end users and explores trends in technological advances in broadcast programme production and delivery.

Presenters

Andy Quested started at the BBC in 1978 becoming a video-tape editor in 1985.  Later moving to a new technology department, introducing non-linear editing, stereo, widescreen, the BBC’s first HD and first UHD programmes, Planet Earth 1 & II.   At the EBU Andy led the production strategic programme and continues to lead the EBU QC group.

As chair of ITU WP 6C, Andy initiated work on Advanced Immersive Sensory Media, Artificial Intelligence, Energy Aware Broadcasting, Componentized Content and led the group that developed the 2023 Emmy winning HDR-TV standard. Andy co-chaired the group on the Future of Broadcasting and led the work on the Future of Broadcast Production.

Luiz Fausto, with over 20 years of experience in media technology, has been with Globo TV Network in Brazil since 2006, currently serving as a Technology & Regulatory Specialist. He has been chairing the Technical Module of the Brazilian Digital Terrestrial Television Forum since 2020 and has been a member of the Brazilian Delegation in ITU-R Study Group 6 (and its Working Parties, 6A, 6B and 6C) since 2013. In ITU-R SG 6 (Broadcasting Service), he co-chairs the Rapporteur Group on the Future of Broadcasting, and in ITU-R WP 6B (Broadcast service assembly and access), he chairs SWG 6B-2 (Multimedia).

Dr Claire Grant is CBU President and Chair of the Union’s Board of Directors.  She is a career media professional with experience in print, broadcast and digital media.  As Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the RJRGLEANER Communications Group, the largest media house in the English Caribbean, Dr Grant provides operational and strategic direction for all broadcast brands in the Group.
