The theme for the 12th edition of the World Radio Day, is “Radio and Peace”. On World Radio Day 2023, UNESCO highlights independent radio as a pillar for conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The theme was chosen in recognition of radio’s capacity to “shape public opinion and frame a narrative that can influence domestic and international situations and decision-making processes.”
In the Caribbean, and at the global level, radio remains the most widely consumed medium. The objectives of World Radio Day are to raise awareness among the public and the media regarding the importance of radio as well as to encourage decision makers to establish and provide access to information through radio as well as to enhance networking and international cooperation among broadcasters.
There’s more information at the World Radio Day website.
