Dec 21, 2015 | News, News Releases

Dear CBU Member,

On behalf of the President and Board of the CBU, I am pleased to send this invitation to begin preparing entries for the Caribbean Broadcasting Awards 2015.

The trophies, certificates and cash prizes will be handed out at a televised and live-streamed ceremony during the 47th CBU Annual General Assembly in Havana, Cuba from October 24 to 27, 2016.

There’s a new theme award added to the list. The UNICEF Eastern Caribbean Area Office is sponsoring two awards, one each in radio and television, for items that embody Responsible Coverage of Children’s Issues. Members in the following countries are eligible to enter this category: Anguilla; Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados; the British Virgin Islands; Dominica; Montserrat; Grenada; St. Kitts & Nevis; St. Lucia; St. Vincent & the Grenadines; Trinidad and Tobago; Turks & Caicos Islands.

CBU members are also encouraged to submit entries award for best radio and TV items in Agriculture sponsored by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

And the CBA 2015 will once again feature a People’s Choice Award. The winning television and radio entries will be selected by on-line polling on the CBU website www.caribroadcastunion.org.

And in response to a desire expressed by many organizations to increase their participation in the region’s premier media competition, this year the CBU will continue accepting the increased maximum number of entries per category from each member, five (5), up from three (3) in previous years.

This year it will be easier, faster and more cost-effective for members to submit entries, since they can now be sent electronically to the corporate e-mail address info@caribroadcastunion.org.

As a truly valued member and an active contributor to the success of the Union, CBU looks forward to your participation in the Awards. However, please note the rule limiting eligible entries to members in good financial standing.  Therefore, members are strongly encouraged to regularise their financial status no later than March 31, 2016.

The revised rules and entry form will be shared with all members early in 2016 and will also be placed on the CBU website. In the meantime, do feel free to contact the Secretariat with any questions.
