The President of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) Mrs. Shida Bolai today welcomed the latest media entity to join the ranks of the Union.
The newest CBU member is Phase 3 Production Limited (Phase 3), which is headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica. This addition brings the Union’s membership roll to forty-eight (48). The thirty-one year old company which was formerly an active member of the CBU has re-joined with Associate status.
Phase 3 is a full-service television and multi-media production company that specializes in multi-camera, high definition coverage of sports and entertainment events for live broadcast via television and or the Internet.
In welcoming back the former member, the CBU President noted it was extremely satisfying to have the content producer re-join the Union, at a time when CBU is further highlighting supports the need for production of Caribbean indigenous audio-visual content for regional media audiences.
The CBU is a grouping of media entities located in twenty-two (22) countries and territories in the English, Dutch and Spanish-speaking Caribbean. The Union’s mandate includes facilitating indigenous programme production and sharing; capacity-building of media institutions and professionals; joint negotiation of rights for programming; and advocacy in regional and international forums on policy and technology issues.
In 2015, the CBU celebrates forty-five (45) years of service to the media and Caribbean development, since its establishment in November 1970 in Georgetown, Guyana. The culmination of the 45th anniversary celebration will be the Annual General Assembly, in St. George’s, Grenada from August 17 to 20.
